Basketball Fans, Coaches & Players,

Over the past 9 years I have been blessed to have coached over 100 players who have gone on to play at the collegiate level and have come into direct contact with the top prospects in the country either through having our Texas D-1 Ambassadors teams compete against them on the National stage, or by having the privilege to have coached these players at various National Camps.  A broad range of relationships have been developed with college coaches which allow me to have imput into the recommendation and subsequent placement of scholarship athletes.

This ranking service has been developed so that Texas players, especially those in the Central Texas/San Antonio area would receive recognition due them. I will also include prospects I am familiar with from the State of Louisiana. The purpose is to increase the amount of exposure and awareness of the players talents to college coaches in my network of coaching colleagues across the country.  This database will benefit college coaching staffs who may not otherwise be familiar with the player and the level they are projected to play at in college.

As with any attempt to evaluate talent, my opinions are subjective.  Whether the evaluation is flattering or perhaps perceived as undervalued, the opinion is not meant to be negative.  The published information is for public consumption, but additional in depth insight along with GPA, SAT scores and the players contact information is only available to college coaches on a subscription basis.

College coaches desiring additional info can call me direct at 512-791-5455 or via email at This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it   As we develop the database, players wishing to be included but have not been to date can also contact me via email for consideration.  We also offer various camps and tournaments throughout the year which will enhance our ability to evaluate your talent level correctly.  Those event dates and locations are found on our web site:  www.TexasBasketballinc.com

PERSPECTIVE:   We all love our children and believe in their dreams.  However, the reality is that there are only 345 D-1 basketball programs with 13 scholarships a piece.  Scholarships available for each class year are approximately 1000-1200 annually.  This encompasses candidates from across the USA and more frequently, International players as well.  It is highly competitive.  For the Class of 2009 the State of Texas will have approximately 100 signees at the D-1 level. Academics will also "KO" a portion of them.

Understanding The "Star" System

Please understand that this service is for those deemed to be college level players.  Therefore, one star is not a bad thing, although it does designate that I believe the player is borderline D-1, and more likely D-2 or D-3.

The average of the assessment of 8 different categories can range from a low of 1.0 to a high (perfect score) of 5.0  My assessment of the player's potential recruitment is as follows:

4.0 > High Major Prospect
ACC, Big East, Big 10, Big XII, PAC-10, SEC

3.5-3.99 Mid Major Prospect
Atlantic 10, Conference USA, Horizon, Missouri Valley, Mountain West, Sun Belt, WAC, West Coast

2.8-3.49 Low Division 1 Prospect
Big Sky. Big South, Big West, Colonial, Independents, Ivy, MAAC, Mid-American, MEAC, Northeast, Ohio Valley, Southern, SWAC, Summit

<2.80 Borderline Low Division 1, D-2 & D-3 Prospects

Sincere thanks for your interest in the Texas & Louisiana players of tomorrow.

Coach Max with basketball legend Howard Garfinkel at Five Star Camp in Virginia.

As basketball evolved in the USA, Mr. Garfinkel was the predecessor to today's multitude of ranking and recruiting services that abound on the internet. Along with Mr. Leigh Klein he founded Five Star, to this day the most effective TEACHING camp in the country. It was at Five Star that many NBA legends including Moses Malone, Michael Jordan, & LeBron James burst on the national scene with "Garf's" assistance.

RANKINGS COMPILED BY: Coach Max Ivany

Founder and architect of the nationally recognized Texas D-1 Ambassadors basketball program and co-owner of TexasRecruit.com, Coach Ivany is widely acknowledged as being one of the most insightful evaluators of youth basketball talent in the country with his specific area of expertise being the great State of Texas and into Louisiana.

Coach Ivany is one of a handful of club coaches who is widely connected at every level of basketball from the pre-teen youngsters who aspire to be a star someday, to the high school phenoms and then on to the NCAA and the pros. Coach Ivany is able to pick up the phone and have his calls taken by NCAA coaches at every level in order to get the job done and assist these kids in meeting their goals and dreams. These associations have been developed over ten years of pushing the agenda of improving basketball in Texas, by nurturing relationships with high school coaches, NCAA Division One coaches and National Recruiting Services while in gyms around the state/country and on the golf course.

Coach Max and the Texas D-1 Ambassadors reputation are one of highest integrity. His program demands that kids be accountable academically and socially, as well as athletically. It is this track record which enhances demand for his players by college coaches nationwide. Coach Ivany has coached and directly had a hand in the placement of almost 100 Division One athletes, in the process accumulating over 500 coaching wins on the most competitive summer exposure circuits.
